Binary Oxide Ceramics

Binary compounds of oxygen with another element. An oxide that combines with water to give an acid is termed as an acidic oxide. Oxide ceramics are inorganic compounds of metallic or metalloid elements with oxygen. The minerals used to make these ceramic materials are crushed or ground into a fine powder that is purified by adding it to a solution and allowing a chemical precipitate to form.
